MAPOLY PRO Says Students Killed In Cult Clash Are Not Theirs

The Public Relations Officer, PRO, of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Ogun state, Sulaimon Adebiyi has debunked claims that the two unidentified boys who were shot dead on Tuesday during a clash between rivalry cult groups were students of the institution.
According to him, nothing was found on the bodies of the dead students to identify them as students of the school.
STUFF9JA recalls that reports have it that barely few hours after writing their final examination, the students were allegedly shot dead in Onikolobo, an area of Abeokuta populated by students, during a road walk celebration on completing their ND examinations.
According to a witness who pleaded anonymity, fight ensued between the contending cult groups during the celebration and resulted in sporadic shootings causing residents of the area to ran for safety.

Another witness, who simply identified himself as Olawale, said, “It was this normal ritual that they were carrying out when this repeated gun shots were heard. Before we knew what was happening, a lifeless body was already lying down on the road.”
Speaking on the incident, the institution’s PRO said, “I am here because I received a call that there were students of ours (that was the language the person used) lying lifeless on the road; and the spontaneous reaction was to confirm if two students killed in cult clash report was true or not.
“We ordered the immediate search of the bag on them, pocket and other areas where we felt that records can be, there was nothing, I repeat for emphasis sake, there was nothing indicating him being our student.
“This is second semester 2014/2015 and our students are undergoing examinations as we speak and there is no way a student will go into an examination hall without elements of identification,” Adebiyi stressed.
