– The 88th Academy awards was live on February 28 and it saw a host of Hollywood bigwigs in attendance
– Celebrated actor Leonardo DiCaprio won his first ever Academy award for his role in The Revenant
– The debate continues on why coloured actors did not get nominations for the awards
The highly anticipated 88th Oscars was live on February 28 and it was a night of pleasant fun and entertainment.
Many undisputed winners emerged on the night some of which include Alejandro Inarritu as Best Director and Leonardo DiCaprio as Best Actor.
But as great as that was, Sylvester Stallone’s loss in the category of Best Supporting Actor remained a big upset on the night.
Chris Rock was the host of the event and he did a superb job of keeping the audience cracked up, even though his Rihanna joke has been widely criticized by some.
The 88th Academy Awards, which held at the Dolby Theatre, will be remembered for its pizzazz, with many of the celebrities rocking outstanding outfits and accessories all through the night.
Be that as it may, the awards show sparked a major controversy in Hollywood and the world in general given there were no nominations for coloured actors. This is happening for the second time in a row.
Other highlights of the evening are the after party which saw celebrities changing attires, and then the new winners heading to the Governors Ball at the Dolby Ballroom where they had their statuettes engraved with their names. It was interesting.
